2 Leading Geothermal Stocks to Watch

Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NASDAQ: CHK)

Founded in 1989, Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NASDAQ: CHK) is a major player in the exploration and responsible development of resources across three key U.S. shale basins: the Eagle Ford, Haynesville, and Marcellus. Based in Oklahoma City—often referred to as the biggest “small town” in the energy world—the company operates in one of the most influential hubs for oil and gas.

As part of its transition toward cleaner energy solutions, Chesapeake announced on October 3 a collaboration with Eavor, a company known for pioneering geothermal technology. Together, they are conducting a feasibility study to examine geothermal potential at Joint Base San Antonio. This initiative is driven by Chesapeake’s recently formed New Energy Ventures (NEV) division, which was created to explore innovative technologies and alternative energy pathways in line with its long-term net-zero goals.

Beyond hydrocarbons, the company works closely with startups, industry leaders, and government agencies to pursue growth opportunities in geothermal energy.
